MacMasters Need A Lift

The MacMasters - a simply amazing family!

 My sister and brother-in-law, Katie and Brad, took a leap many years ago and decided to venture down the path of adoption.  With Katie being in Infant Development and Brad a teacher, they felt they would be the best parents for a young boy who was diagnosed with Down Syndrome.   Mahdi joined our family around the time he turned 1.   Fast forward to almost two years later, Katie and Brad updated their home study to adopt again and they were matched with another young boy, diagnosed with Down Syndrome, who was needing his forever family, and we welcomed Xander.  The family of three, became the family of four!  As the boys started to grow and develop, Katie and Brad were faced with new challenges, which is requiring them to make some changes in their home to accommodate what their boys will need.  Mahdi will be undergoing his 3rd surgery for his hips/pelvis, and Xander, who has been experiencing some mobility issues (the loss of his ability to weight bare for extended periods of time), is getting to an age/size that it is unsafe for family and nursing staff to carry up and down the stairs into their home and to the second floor of the house. The MacMasters are having a ramp installed to make it easier to get the boys in the house, they are temporarily converting a room on the main floor into a bedroom so Mahdi can recover from surgery in the comforts of his home, and they are needing to install an elevator at the cost of $40,000 so they boys can safely go from one floor to the next  Making these changes have been challenging, especially financially, but our family wouldn't be the same without these kids - they are simply one of a kind and perfect for our family.
