HELP ME GET TO COSTA RICA!

Friends & Family,

I have the great opportunity to go with the Liberty University Psychology Department on a LU Send trip to Costa Rica! As a senior Psychology major, I am required to complete an internship. This trip will count towards that internship because not only will it be educational by really learning about the culture, but we will be doing missions work with a few different organizations. Myself and the rest of my team will be headed down to Costa Rica to work alongside Face of Justice Ministries. This is an organization whose vision is to see the commercialization of men, women, and children stopped in Costa Rica. Their mission statement is as follows, "Face of Justice Ministries serves to defend, shelter, empower and love survivors of human trafficking and sexual exploitation and the men, women and children working in prostitution in Costa Rica through intervention, prevention, and restoration.” This organization does amazing work down there and I am excited to partner with them.

Along with learning from the leaders of this organization, we will also be working closely with them visiting many of their locations. We will be visiting an orphanage for children ages 0-5, another orphanage that is for children ages 5-18, we will also visit a home for young girls who have children through being victims of human trafficking, and lastly, we will visit a home for men struggling with various forms of addictions. These visits will be nothing short of difficult, especially because I have never experienced brokenness like this before. In this season for me it makes no logical sense for me to go on this trip. I am paying rent, utility bills, and school bills that seem to never end. I am also in the most broken season I have ever been emotionally and mentally. By any standard, I should not have even applied to go on this trip. But God. He had other plans. He spoke to me and lead me to apply and to my surprise, gave me a resounding “Yes!”. This broken season that I am in is all about growth and this trip will only add to that. I will be seeing pain and hurt on a new level through the eyes of a child who has been abandoned. I will see women my own age who have been commercialized and trapped all their lives and are now experiencing freedom for the first time. And I will see men searching for breakthrough from addictions that have held them back for so long. These are the reasons that it is important for me to go on this trip and though I am nervous and already heartbroken for these people, I am excited at the opportunity to meet, encourage, and love on these people even for just a short time.

The only thing standing in my way, is money. I need to come up with $3,000 by February. This is broken up into 5 payments of $600, having the first payment due October 30th. Though I am completely and totally trusting the Lord for his faithfulness to be put on display during this time, I am writing this to ask for your partnership. Would you be willing to come along side me by giving and playing an important role in changing my life? Your partnership in this trip would mean so much to me. I am already so grateful for this opportunity and at the end I know I will be able to say that one of the main reasons I was able to go was because of the love, support, and prayers of many people in my life. Even if you cannot give, your thoughts and prayers hold a special place in my heart. Please consider giving in any way you can. Lets do this! Every little bit counts! Thank you!
