Mackenzie Kolesar's Eye Surgeries

Wednesday 8/30/17 Mackenzie-- 4 year old was playing with her 2 year old cat and the cat attacked her.
She is left with no vision in her eye.
We brought her to Maria Fareri children's hospital. After being seen in the ER they confirmed that she had a long abrasion and a puncture to her cornea that was causing fluid to leak and a cataract to form.
They brought her in for surgery to repair the punctures totally 4 stitches and she had to stay in the hospital for 3 days on IV antibiotics. We followed up with a specialist who noticed severe swelling of the cataract and was doing more damage to her lens he sent us to NY eye and ear to meet with a surgeon. He determined the surgery needed to be done this week and will preformed Friday 9/8. They will remove the cataract and replace her lens.
They will also explore to see if any damage was done to the retina since she has no vision at this time,
We may have to go through multiple more surgeries. The insurance dedutable is very high nd only covers a % of surgeries.
Our journey continues tomorrow with Mackenzies next surgery.
