Education has the power to change worlds!

The Mac and Felicia Ernest Scholarship Fund was started informally decades ago by Mac and Felicia Ernest.  On her passing, her beloved husband Mac set about formalizing and systematizing the giving.

Since its inception, the fund has supported many educational endeavors and charitable works in Sri Lanka and internationally.  Below is a sampling of the types of giving that the Mac and Felicia Ernest Scholarship Fund has supported:

·         Annual contributions to the schooling and education of children in the Vanni, through Sr. Lidwina

·         Donation of new computer,  color printer and software for teachers use at Holy Family Convent, Jaffna (JHFC) 

·         Equipped an "English Room" with new TV, DVD player, projector, sound system etc. at JHFC

·         Salaries for two part-time English teachers at JHFC

·         Purchase of sewing machines for a job retraining center, Batticaloa

·         Annual contributions to support education for the Peace and Reconciliation Center serving youth from all religious and ethnic communities affected by the civil war,  Batticaloa, Sri Lanka

·         Purchase of a computer, color printer and software for a small local hospital, Inuvil Hospital

·         Support for Missionaries of Charity orphanage, Colombo through semiannual contributions

·         Paid for the three years of education, board and lodging of a young nursing student in Fr. Raja Manicam’s parish in Manjakuttai, South India

·         Support for Parish School of Our Lady of Good Health, Fr. Raja Manicam, Manjakuttai, South India

·         Financial support of the charitable work of the St. Vincent De Paul, Austin Texas

·         Support for the Mission to Mexico, St. Catherine’s of Sienna, Austin Texas

·         Payment of university tuition, board, lodging and allowance in support of a young Muslim Uyghur student for university study, Beijing, People’s Republic of China

·         Purchase of Uyghur books and school supplies for 4  ethnic and religious minority schools in Aksu and Turpan and Kashgar, Xinjiang, People’s Republic of China

Mac requested that if anyone interested in supporting the work he and Felicia were passionate about- education and good works, donations be made to the "Mac and Felicia Ernest Scholarship Fund" that they both held so close to their hearts.
