Hi everyone!

We (Magdalyn Asimakis & Heather Rigg) are very happy to share that this July we will be opening ma ma, an art space in Toronto's Junction neighbourhood.

ma ma will engage with artists working in video, photography, text, and sculpture, who explore issues around performance, embodiment, technology, access, institutional critique, and how social infrastructures are built and navigated. We are thrilled that many of these artists have not shown in Toronto before, and we look forward to the dialogue their work will initiate here.

The reason we have started this ‘GoFundMe’ account is because ma ma is  a non-profit space with no sponsorship. Because ma ma’s space became available sooner than we anticipated we are limited on the grants we can apply for. We feel that this summer is an excellent time to open something new in Toronto, and couldn’t say no when the opportunity at 101 - 300 Campbell Avenue  became available. Leading up to July we are hoping you can assist us in raising our operating budget of $10,000 which includes but is not limited to: artist fees, speaker fees, artist travel, equipment rentals, space rental, installation supplies, and printing literature. Every little bit helps and we are very appreciative of any support you can offer!

As June progresses we will be sharing more details about our programming which will include exhibitions, film screenings, reading groups, talks, and workshops. Our first exhibition is set to open on July 12th, and we will present four exhibitions with associated programming through to November 15th, 2018.

Sincere thanks in advance!
