My family and I have had some world upending developments and are being forced to relocate for safety reasons.
We have 3 children our 3 year old daughter Emily, our 1 year old son Ezra and our 18 year old son Ethan who lives on his own now. I am a disabled veteran. We both lost our jobs earlier this year when we had to close our business and have been doing what we can but this move is going to be tough on us.
We are currently living in Georgia and are trying to get back to Washington, where our daughter was born. With the current climate and tensions and some other personal events/circumstances my wife, who is Native and Hispanic, no longer feels safe where we are. We had planned on trying to relocate eventually but things have happened that have escalated that time line. However we find ourselves financially stretched thin.
We are starting this GoFundMe to help us with relocating expenses. We have been trying to figure out the best options for this and have settled on sending our belongings in U-Haul PODs and making the drive in our car with the children. The containers cost approx. $2,400 for that distance for 2 pods and making the drive with small ones means having to make more stops and therefore extending the trip out to around 6 days give or take. With costs associated with that we estimate it will run us around $3,000 to make the move. We have explored other options but since there are no moving trucks that can seat all of us and tow our car, that was ruled out and my wife has personal issues that prevent her from flying with the kids while I make the drive alone.
We are wanting to make this move as soon as we have the money to do so. Ideally before the winter sets in too much.
This is not an easy thing for me to do. If I could do this alone I would. My family is everything to me and I need to do whatever it takes for them to be safe and happy.
