Daughters of Resilience Inc. (DOR) is a nonprofit organization born from a deep desire to uplift and empower young women affected by one of life’s harshest realities—parental incarceration. These daughters of resilience face challenges most of us can only imagine, yet they continue to rise, showcasing extraordinary strength and potential in the face of adversity.
Our mission is to ensure these young women are not left to navigate this difficult path alone. Through education, mentorship, and innovative programs, we provide the resources and support they need to break cycles of disadvantage and chart a brighter future filled with hope, opportunity, and resilience.
Meet Hannah Lang and Natalya Kirkland!
Hannah Lang, 17, and Natalya Kirkland, 14, are the inaugural scholarship recipients of DOR. These remarkable young women embody the spirit of resilience that defines our mission. Despite the pain and challenges of losing their fathers to incarceration, they have persevered with courage, strength, and an unwavering commitment to bettering themselves.
We are honored to award Hannah and Natalya with $5,000 scholarships each. These scholarships represent more than financial support—they are a testament to their extraordinary resilience and determination. The funds will go directly toward their education, helping them pursue their dreams and build brighter futures.
The first dollars raised in our crowdfunding campaign will fund Hannah and Natalya’s scholarships, ensuring that their courage and efforts are recognized and rewarded.

Hannah and Natalya’s stories are just two among countless others. Across the United States, over 5 million children have experienced parental incarceration. These young women face heightened risks of academic struggles, mental health challenges, and economic instability—all while carrying the emotional weight of their circumstances. In Georgia alone, thousands are impacted by this crisis.
DOR exists to change this narrative. Our mission goes beyond financial support. We are building a community of understanding, awareness, and action. One of our goals is to spread awareness about this often-hidden crisis, encouraging others in similar situations to feel seen, supported, and empowered to share their stories or reach out for help. By fostering open dialogue and understanding, we aim to provide a foundation of hope and resilience for those who may feel alone in their struggles.

- Expand Educational Opportunities: In 2025, we aim to double our scholarship funding to $20,000, providing life-changing opportunities to more young women like Hannah and Natalya.
- Foster Mentorship and Personal Growth: Our mentorship initiative will include a transformative 10-day confidence and skill development retreat for 10 young women. This retreat will combine fun, education, and empowerment while connecting participants with mentors and resources to help them thrive.
- Develop Innovative Family Solutions: We’re creating a cutting-edge software platform to strengthen communication and relationships between young people and their incarcerated parents, bridging emotional gaps and fostering healing.
- Raise Awareness: Shine a light on the widespread impact of parental incarceration, breaking the stigma and creating a space for others to share their stories and seek support.
