Donna's Fund

During a year of uncertainty, our mother Donna has been silently battling breast cancer for the third time. Not long ago we nearly lost her to
Pasteurella meningitis. I sat next to her in the hospital while her brain was swelling, without us knowing what was happening. She beat that disease, only for doctors to find a lump in her breast during treatment. My mother has always given so much to the community and her loved ones. Never has she held her hand out and asked for help. As a child, I would have never known she was struggling because she didn't show it. A strong, Irish-American woman who had a rough upbringing; but always put her head down and powered through pain, heartache, everything that was thrown at her. Every time she finishes chemotherapy treatment, we think it's the last. But her numbers drop and her tumor markers go up. She is no longer able to work, so we do everything we can to help. Doctors are extending her chemotherapy which is physically and emotionally tearing her apart.

I held off creating this fund right before the holidays, because many people are struggling financially due to the COVID-19 shut downs. She is not someone who will ask for help with her medical/home bills even though she needs it. Recently, chemotherapy has caused permanent loss of feeling in her fingertips and the bottoms of her feet. Chemotherapy has also caused her to become extremely depressed, which is something I've never seen or heard her admit to being. All donated funds will go to making her comfortable and lessening the burden of bills on her shoulders. I wish that everyone could have the chance to meet my mother. She is the most loving and selfless person I've ever had the blessing of knowing. Every dollar will be greatly appreciated and go towards her hospital bills and daily needs such as groceries, oil/gas, etc...
