The Saunier Cancer Fund

It is not easy for me to create a charity fundraising page for myself but after much encouragement from family members and friends I have decided to take this route. November 17, 2014 is the day my life took an unexpected turn with just three words “You Have Cancer”. In particular I was diagnosed with an aggressive form of breast cancer.  November 20th, a day after I told my boss of my cancer diagnosis, I was let go from my employment.  My treatment consists of 18 weeks of target therapy along with chemotherapy to be followed by a bilateral mastectomy. After the bilateral mastectomy we will begin the reconstructive process along with another year of target therapy. I will then have to take a cancer drug for 10 years. My chemotherapy has already been delayed for a month per complications arising from one of my lymph node sites. This led to waiting for the site to heal before beginning chemotherapy again. There is no guarantee my treatment will not be delayed again because my previous chemotherapy treatments had led to an iron deficiency almost causing a blood transfusion which could have put my chemo on hold as well.

My husband does work but it takes both of us to bring income into our household to help keep it afloat. These expenses do not include the additional bills coming in from my cancer treatment and related health issues. My income was paying our monthly mortgage payments. We have always been responsible with our finances but have been on a tight budget for some time now financially recuperating from another medical emergency from 4 years ago in which complications from my pregnancy landed me on life support and brought a vibrant & healthy boy into our world 7 weeks before his due date. We have managed to pay mortgage up through this month. However, other revenue avenues have not come through as of yet (and expected) although we are hoping within the next couple of months they will.

It is tough finding employment with an income that will support our monthly mortgage and daycare while accepting the fact I will be out a couple of days per week with treatment, appointments and on some weeks longer due to recovering from side effects from my chemotherapy. The financial stress is weighing on me and I need to concentrate on being strong and kicking this cancer out of me!The money we are asking for will help us pay mortgage payments along with our medical expenses that keep piling in.

Your generosity is greatly appreciated.
