Backpacks for the Homeless

We are raising funds to provide the homeless of Dallas with backpacks full of supplies that will help them during the Christmas time period. In addition to a backpack, each person helped will receive a hot lunch and we'll have gift wrapped toys for any children.
Camden Marino and I started providing backpacks and supplies to the homeless in 2015 to teach my kids the importance of giving. In the first year, we funded everything and we were able to provide 50 backpacks and hot lunches.
In 2016, with the help of Scott Brown and additional family and friends - we tripled in scale and were able to provide 150 backpacks filled with supplies and 150 hot lunches. One thing that surprised and made an impact on us in 2015, was all the homeless children (which we were not expecting). In 2016, we also purchased and gift wrapped toys to hand out to those kids we'd meet (so impactful to see their faces light up from recieving a present).
With your help, our target for 2017 is 300 backpacks with supplies and hot lunches. As in previous years, we will smoke pulled pork overnight (18 hours total) to include in the lunches. Additional funds will be utilized for transportation and toys for the homeless children. We'll cover as many backpacks as we can, and any surplus or leftover will be donated to a local shelter.

As in prior years, the backpacks will be distributed on Christmas Eve. Each backpack can be furnished for $20. For every $20 donated you'll be furnishing a backpack and hot lunch on Christmas Eve to one of Dallas' many homeless people. We'll be placing orders for the supplies in early November as many products have a 4-6 weeks lead time and ship from China. Appreciate your consideration - Thank you!
