Possible Mishap at ARH need justice

In April of 2013 my family lost my sister under questionable circumstances under the care of Fraser Health at Abbotsford Regional Hospital. She was only 36 years old and left behind her 14 year old daughter who became parentless as her father had already passed away. I am now raising her along with my 3 other children as a single parent. My sister was my best friend and my family cannot leave this case without trying to pursue answers for what happened. She did have congestive heart failure for 8 years prior to her passing, as well as being type 1 diabetic; I informed the hospital of the necessity of her being monitored closely. She was admitted for severe abdominal pain, and was found 48 hours later unresponsive on a regular medical unit, after being in the emergency for 30 hours. I informed them many times about the importance of her heart being monitored as she has just been to her specialist at St Paul’s Hospital and she was informed of decreasing heart function. She was discovered 30 minutes post mortem, without any cardiac monitoring ever being put in place.  I have had all of her hospital records reviewed by lawyers, and there are issues that need answers. After a very long internal investigation by Fraser Health and answers that only raised more concerns, we are now asking for financial help for legal fees and pursuing further answers. Fraser health has now stopped all communication with my family about this matter and has said it is a legal issue now, which is very expensive. April 16 this year marks 2 years since we lost her, so we need to get the legal process underway as it is time sensitive.  Health authorities know that most people do not have the money to stand up against them in trial. It is not fair for people to be left without answers and for health authorities to not be held accountable for when or if there is wrong doing.  We the public put our lives in their hands, and we should feel safe to trust that we will receive adequate care. One of my hopes is that Fraser Health will implement safe guards so other families do not have to suffer in the future the way ours has.
