As many of you know; Marty had a very nasty spill on the streets of Dallas whilst coming back to the Ducati AMS shop from one of the many dinner rides he organizes for us fellow Ducati riders.
The DFW Ducati family is a very close group of eclectic individuals from all walks of life with one thing in common; riding and creating new friendships and memories through this passion we all share which is riding our Ducati motorcycles.
Marty needs our help in order to heal as fast as he rides and rise from the ashes just like the Greek bird; the Phoenix. Marty was hospitalized at Parkland's burn-unit; although he wasn't burned by any flame he was treated as a burned patient due to the severity of his injuries and high risk of infection due to loss of skin.
While visiting Marty at the burn-wing; I clearly remember him mentioning something to me that resonated deep within my ‘Rider-DNA’ if you will. Quote: ‘All I remember is the pavement being extremely hot against my body, burning all my skin and looking back and seeing the bike chasing me ultimately crushing my right hand in pieces…’
I cannot phantom the amount of pain he has endured these last 10 days with multiple surgeries to his hand and skin grafting done to his body. This could have happened to anyone of us…But if anybody can make a fast recovery is Marty…
It is unbeknownst to me Marty’s current medical expenses and whether insurance will cover some of it. But a few days at the burn-unit at Parkland can rapidly reach staggering medical bills for treatment.
Let’s help Marty focus on his re-habilitation and take some of the financial stress out of the equation by donating to the Marty-Phoenix-GoFundMe
