Before I start asking for donations, I'd like you to get to know me first.
Film has been a passion of mine ever since I could remember, from playing around with my dad's camcorder, to making sketches with friends, and now finally to directing a producing short films, it has been a constant in my life.
Growing up with a mostly technological passion in a very un-technological environment in Kathmandu, Nepal, taught me improvisation, patience, and most of all perseverance. Because what do you do when you've been editing for 8 hours and a blackout makes you lose everything? Start again, and make it better. My love for film only grew as I decided to pursue a Media Production major at Pepperdine University.
One of the most surreal moments of my life would have to be winning the IMPACT Award at the Reel Stories Film Festival this winter for my short film "Fractures."
With all that said, I've recently had the good fortune of being accepted into the Cannes Film Program in France, which is an incredible opportunity to further my career as a filmmaker. From May 10-25, I will have the opportunity to attend panels, and rub elbows with some of the greatest writer, directors, producers etc... in the world. But a trip like this doesn't come cheap. What I am trying to raise are:
Program fees: $3450 (which includes housing and badges for events)
Airfair: $1050
Plus all my costs in Cannes including food: $500
