Bring Healing to Juan

The man in the picture is my husband, Juan. To look at the picture, he is a very happy person and if you met him at church or on the street, you would know what an energetic, loving person he is. He would give anyone anything that he has.

The last four years has been trying for our family. Juan was having issues and was advised to lose weight. After 2 work outs, Juan went into a condition called rhabdomyolysis, which is a rare disease where your muscles break down. After over a year of dealing with issues from this, things seemed to get better. Juan was released to do normal activity again.

About 6 months ago Juan did one 20 minute workout on a bike and went back into rhabdo. This time it wasn't as bad, but the recovery is going even slower. Rhabdo breaks down your muscles, which you can only imagine makes you weak. The recovery is to try not to use your muscles, to allow them to heal and to ensure you don't go back into rhabdo.

Juan was a youth pastor for years. He loves youth. Really, he loves people. He loves helping, talking to, listening to people and spreading the word of God. With the rhabdo brings weakness, fatigue, and all over joint and muscle pain as your muscles are trying to heal from the breakdown.

Juan's muscles are healing from the rhabdo and with time he will be able to use them again. What Juan is having a hard time healing is his mind. Through the months of healing and not being able to do much, from Dr's being unable to help or give hope, to many issues and problems from his childhood being brought to the surface Juan has been struggling with depression. Unfortunately the anti-depression drugs that are available I would put into 3 categories. Those that he can't take because they cause muscle breakdown. Those that only seem to make things worse. And the ones that make things slightly better for a short period of time and then stop working.

Through this, we are blessed. Things have not always been easy, but we have made it through and now we have a solution, at least for the depression. A solution that has had great results and will last for years to come. This treatment is called NeuroStar TMS. It was recommended by his Dr's at Mayo Clinic and is now available in Illinois and has even been approved by insurance.

The only issue we are facing is the out of pocket costs associated with the treatment and the cost of physically getting to the treatment. TMS is required 5 days a week for 3 weeks and then is tapered down from there. Juan's Dr is in Moline, a 2 hour drive from where we live. This is what we are humbly asking for help with.

Thank you to our friends and family for your love, prayers and support the last 4 years. Thank you for your consideration of this and for your prayers during this time.
