Stop the Coastal Connector
My name is Meredith Hayward Richard. I am a concerned Marion County citizen and I am against the Coastal Connector. I started this GoFundMe to collect funds for signage and advertising. The point of this signage is to let our citizens know what the FDOT has planned for our area.
The Florida Turnpike Enterprise (a division of the Florida Department of Transportation) is planning an extension of the existing Suncoast Parkway through Citrus and Marion Counties, to terminate at 301/441 via 326 or 329.
The roadway would run right through the heart of Ocala’s horse country, a 3-billion-dollar industry which provides almost 27k jobs.
The proposed routes also threaten a variety of natural resources, vital conservation lands, agricultural areas, a historic landmark, and our citizens’ homes! Please join us in fighting the Coastal Connector, and just say “NO”!
We plan on using the money we raise via this gofundme account and other fundraising efforts to:
Purchase banners, yard signs, bumper stickers, and other advertising paraphernalia.
Plan and purchase advertisement space on radio, television, printed media, and billboards.
Donations will be withdrawn weekly to pay for purchases on behalf of the concerned citizens of Citrus and Marion County. Signage will be distributed on a first come-first serve basis. Until we have a charity status established, all donations will be routed into a checking account in my name (Meredith Hayward Richard). I am keeping a complete record of monies spent and I will make this record available to anyone who wishes to view it.
