Chris Odom Organ Transplant Fund
My son Chris is Diabetic since age 14, and he is now 35. This disease has really taken a toll on his body. 3-4 years ago he started having trouble with his eyes, which still continues. He has had at least 4 laser surgeries & 1 major eye surgery under general anesthesia in Sept of 2014. As of September 2014, he had to go on Peritoneal dialysis 7 days a week, and he had to go on the Hemodialysis 3 days a week. He is now in the hospital for the 3rd time this month, (June 2015) in ICU at the Medical Center. So far this month 20 days out of 29 he has spent in the hospital. I can't begin to count the hospital stays in the past 4 years, not to mention the past 21 years. Watching him suffer breaks my heart. He is on a transplant list for kidney & pancreas. I don’t know how we will pay for this and then there will be anti-rejection medications, etc, etc. You can't begin to believe the financial burden this has put on our family. I am disabled and have been unable to work since 2011. Chris has always been a hard worker and provider for his family. He has one young daughter, age 10. Last year, Chris lost his full time job due to this illness and constant hospitalizations. We have worked hard all our lives as long as we were able. Whatever you can give will be much appreciated. The money will be used wisely. We are not above eating beans but Chris’ disease requires a very special diet as with all diabetics.
