Medical expenses

I'm making this page for my beautiful Aunty Deb, who unfortunately is once again going through the unimaginable. To give you a bit of insight into what she is going through, at the age of 30 she was diagnosed with Raynaud's disease. At the time of her diagnosis she was battling gangrene in her fingers. At the age of 36 she was diagnosed with CREST disease and if you are unsure of what that is here is a little run down. CREST disease is a widespread connective tissue disease characterised by changes in the skin, blood vessels, skeletal muscles, and internal organs. (C) - Calcinosis: calcium deposits in the connective tissues (R) - Raynaud's phenomenon: where the hands and feet turn white and cold and then blue, in response to cold or anxiety (E) - Esophageal dysfunction resulting in swallowing difficulty (S) - Sclerodactyly: thick and tight skin on the fingers, caused by an excess of collagen deposits within skin layers.  (T) - Telangiectasia: small red spots on the hands and face that are caused by the swelling of tiny blood vessels. Unfortunately battling this disease is a life long battle and in 2008 after a long hard road she lost her first leg just under the knee, all this starting out from a small sore on her foot she noticed while working at bunnings. Doctors tried very hard to save her foot, performing toe amputations first, using suction dressings and months of hospitals and pain. But Deb being Deb she battled through, mostly with a smile even though she was going through hell, she got back up and was making great progress on her prosthetic leg. Around 2014 while travelling in South Australia she noticed a small ulcer on her other foot around the size of a match head, but with her auto immune disease it would not heal and became bigger and bigger. Being worried she was visiting many doctors until the time came she had to travel home to Townsville to get proper care. Knowing Deb's history they again trier very hard to save her foot they tried antibiotics and silver dressings which not only take a toll on her body but are very financially draining. She went through months of pain, until they decided to take the leg below the knee. She had more complications after the second leg came off, a drain wasn't inserted and there was talks about taking the leg higher but through all the pain after months it finally started to heal. Which leaves me with today. Today my brave Aunty is currently sitting in Townsville hospital with another ulcer, this time on her bum. A woman who has already been through so much pain more than anyone should ever have to go through. It again started small and looked like it could heal on its own, but unfortunately it has taken a turn and has been debrided with the prospect of a second surgery today. While being in hospital she has developed pneumonia and has fluid around her heart. All we are trying to do is ease some of the financial costs associated with her condition so she can focus on healing. With the changes in parliament under Campbell Newman patients who are discharged from hospital have to pay for all costs associated with illness and injuries even if they are treated at the hospital. So for 1 dressing it costs $15 which is sometimes changed every hour?! Expecting anyone to afford that is truly crazy and this isn't included all the added costs of antibiotics and medications. So if by doing this page I can raise enough money for just one dressing, I'll be incredibly grateful as that is $15 Deb and her husband Pete do not have to worry about. So please if you can spare anything there is no one more deserving than her, and if you can't spare anything please share this post so someone else may be able to help.
