For The Children & The Community

Donation protected
For the past 3 years, my friend Miriam Smith has been working with a family in Uganda.  It is a family of 8 street children aged 4 ½ to 17 who have been gathered together by a young man Henry (29) who was also a street child as a youth. Miriam had helped to get them to a stabilized living situation and Henry had gotten some farmland and the kids into school, but misfortune has again pulled the rug out from under them.  They have been homeless and starving over the past month and despite what funds we have sent, it has not been enough.

Currently, 5 of the children are in crisis with varying degrees of kidney disease or failure. Hospitals won't diagnose or treat the children without advanced payment. The youngest - Trevor - was in complete kidney failure and we have managed to get together enough funds ($1000) to get him the medical care he needs. He started the dialysis treatment yesterday and seems to be responding ok. The other children have not yet been examined and it is a terrible situation where Henry has to decide if he will pay for food or for medical exams. Everyone is currently living on just 1 meal a day.

In the past, Henry has never asked for money, but occasionally Miriam has sent him some. The photos are of a better time (2 years ago) when Miriam sent them a small donation of food and books. Henry showed his gratitude by sending the photos of the (very grateful) family.

Our goal with this gofundme page is to raise enough money to help this family through the medical crisis, supplement their food, and help them build a shelter on the farmland so they can have a roof over their heads.

Henry is resourceful, hard-working and dedicated, so we fully anticipate that he will be back on his feet once the crisis is averted.

Anything that you can contribute - even $5 - will help! Thank you so much!
