Amanda`s Rainforest Volunteer trip

Donation protected
My name is Amanda, I am 17 years old and I am an american living in Bergen, Norway. This last year I have been reading up on the current situation of the rainforests, and how in the past 50 years so much of the rainforest in South America, Africa and Asia has been destroyed. The effect and consequence this has on the world is devastating, not to mention all the wildlife depending on the forest that dies with it. Large areas of rainforest are being cut down, often in order to remove just a few logs or other reasons like palm oil, the meat industry, soy, mines, hydro powerplants, road development, paper, oil, gass, etc.

This summer I will be traveling to work as a volunteer in the rainforest in Madagascar (an island country in the Indian Ocean off the southeastern coast of Africa)
for 2 weeks. "Madagascar's rain forests are under threat largely due to slash-and-burn agriculture and timber logging. The country's extreme poverty forces farmers to convert tropical rain forest land into rice fields, which eventually exhausts the soil of nutrients, leaving it colonized by only scrub vegetation. The island's rain forests' supply of precious hardwoods like rosewood and ebony encourage illegal logging. Both of these practices have led to a serious loss of animal habitat and biodiversity. The deforestation has led the United Nations' Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization to declare Madagascar's Atsinanana Rain Forest a "World Heritage in Danger" site. Learning about the rainforest is my passion. With the experience as a volunteer, i hope to learn about what we humans can do to stop this crazyness of destroying the rainforest and our planet, and maybe get an idea of future educational paths so I can be serving this cause better. Destroying the rainforest also effects our climate and its something that affects all of us and should be a concern to all of us. I have been working and saving money, however I still do not have enough. (the total cost is about 38 000 kroner) I will truly appreciate any help for my trip, as this will be such a learning experience for me. A dream come true to learn how to help this cause.
Below is a letter from the organization I am going with.
Sincerely, Amanda Marshall Mason

To whom it may concern:

Mrs Amanda Mason

This is to confirm that Mrs Amanda Mason is to work for Projects Abroad in Madagascar for 2 weeks from 9 July 2017. Mrs Amanda Mason will be working voluntarily and will be receiving no pay.

Amanda Mason will be living and working in a local community in Madagascar, making a valuable contribution to our work in this field. Mrs Amanda Mason will also receive a unique insight and experience in various aspects of that kind of work in a developing country.

Amanda's precise role will be determined by specific interests and abilities. Amanda will certainly be able to take part at grass roots level in projects and programmes which are really needed and make a difference in Madagascar.

Amanda needs financial support to help fund the subsistence while working in Madagascar and to fund the necessary charges made by Projects Abroad which will organize the placement and provide necessary support and back-up. Amanda also needs to fund the flights out and back.

Your sponsorship would be greatly appreciated and would not be wasted. Through Amanda Mason you would be making a very practical contribution in Madagascar.

Yours sincerely
