Jackie's Peace of Mind

My mom, Jackie, was diagnosed with stage 3 cervical cancer a couple of years ago. She ended up having 3 surgeries, because although the margins were "clean" every time, the cancer kept returning quite rapidly. My mom had to do chemo and radiation, but because of how badly the cancer was spreading, the doctor said there wasn't much else that we could do. He called me into his office to basically tell us that my mom had 1-2 years left, depending on if she would continue with the chemo and radiation. I could not believe this...my mom and I got depressed and cried a lot. My mom is a tiny woman, but her body was retaining a lot of water weight and she was so swollen and lethargic.  We finally convinced her to go to the doctor.  The next day he called and told her that she needed to go to the ER immediately. Her kidneys were shutting down due to a large tumor pressing against her ureters.  Her body was poisoning her!  It wasn't water at all, but urine. She had to have another surgery and now has nephrostomy tubes that drain her urine into bags. My mom's condition continues to deteriorate and although she is very weak and can't do much, she tries to keep her spirits high.  Hospice does come to check on her periodically, but she has faith that she will get better! It has been really difficult for me to have faith though, because she seems so frail and weak, nothing like she used to be. She is so skinny, and has to spend most of her day lying down, because she doesn't have the energy. However, she is very worried about all of her bills, medical and otherwise. Obviously, she cannot work in her condition. I try to support her as much as possible, but it is just me and it's been so hard and stressful, not to mention difficult to watch my mom deteriorate.  I want my mom to have this money for her bills, but also, for her peace of mind. I don't want her to worry and I want to be able to make her life as easy and as happy as possible.
However, my mom is a VERY private person and hasn't told pretty much anybody that she's been sick. Therefore, she would be very angry at me for creating this page. So while I am so very grateful for any donations, please respect her privacy.
