Sonnia Ranguma Funeral

Tax deductible
Dear WIT Community,

It is with heavy hearts that we share that one of our members has passed away.

The late Sonnia Ranguma was a recent graduate of WIT’s inaugural Cyber Security Educational Program for Single Mothers (SMP) and a finalist of our WIT Awards Single Mother of the Year Award. Sonnia graduated from the WIT Program in April and was quickly offered a job with U.S. Bank as an Information Security Specialist II.

Sonnia was a bright light to many and always full of joy. She will be remembered for her infectious smile, contagious optimism, determination to succeed, and zest for life. Her commitment to finish the SMP strong was a driving force to changing the trajectory of her life and her two children. She was well on her way to living her best life. Sonnia leaves behind two children, ages six and ten.

Please keep Sonnia’s young children and her family in your thoughts and prayers. WIT has created a GoFundMe account to raise money to help Sonnia’s family take her body back to her homeland of Kenya, where her family will celebrate her life in a traditional Kenyan burial.

Women in Technology (WIT) is a nonprofit in Atlanta, Georgia founded in 1992 which supports and empowers girls and women in STEAM (science, technology, engineering, arts, math) from the classroom to the boardroom. WIT today has over 18,000 members in Georgia, 200 volunteers and our WIT pathway journey begins with girls and women in middle, high school and college participating in our WIT Girls and WIT Campus education and mentoring programs. We continue support through our WIT YoPros (young professionals) to our WIT Careers and our WIT Entrepreneurs Program. We have grown our impact to serve disadvantaged single mothers (earning less than $30,000 annually) through our WIT Single Mothers Education Program with Supportive Services.
