Silvia needs our help!

Hello, wonderful supporters! We are reaching out to you today to help our beloved Friend/Family Member, Silvia Baumann Fletcher, who is navigating a devastating medical diagnosis and is now facing numerous challenges in her life. This GoFundMe campaign aims to provide financial assistance to our courageous loved one, allowing her and her two children to focus on life and health, with immediate support to remain by her side.

Silvia was in an accident on Thursday, May 11th, 2023 that resulted in her going through our AG neighbor's gate, fence, and finally into a tree. She was on the phone with her daughter, Tiffany, who was able to locate her about 20 minutes after the accident. She was evaluated at the Sierra Vista ER in San Luis Obispo, where scans and tests found a tumor in her brain which lead the doctors to conclude that she had a seizure behind the wheel. After a few days, Sierra Vista neurosurgeons decided it was best to hand off her treatment to UCSF due to the location of the tumor. Within 4 days, Silvia was transferred by ambulance via close friend, Colin Garrity. UCSF medical staff quickly did more detailed scans and discovered a second tumor in another part of her brain. UCSF expert neurologists decided to operate on the first larger and more risk-based tumor immediately.

Brain surgery was performed on May 18th, 2023 and the pathology results of the tumor came back 5 days later where she was diagnosed with "Diffuse large B cell Primary CNS Non-Hodgkin's lymphoma". It is a very rare form of primary cancer that is also very aggressive if not treated as soon as possible. A week after the brain surgery, she was set up to start her every-other-week chemotherapy treatments at the UCSF hospital for the next 6 to 8 months. This has required her to take a step back from work, which also affects her daughter, Tiffany, who's been assigned full-time to take care of Silvia.

Our campaign centers around an incredible individual, Silvia Baumann Fletcher, who is at the very beginning of an arduous medical journey, yet her spirit remains unbroken.

As a result of Silvia’s current diagnosis (Diffuse large B cell Primary CNS Non-Hodgkin's lymphoma), she is facing some of the below significant upcoming challenges:

• In-patient surgeries, chemotherapy, other special treatments, and many tests.

• Unknowns regarding care and return to “home life”.

• Uncertainty about when she might be able to return to work.

• Uncertainty about when she might be able to drive again.

• Having a support team of loved ones, especially her kids, with her while receiving treatments at UCSF.

Despite these challenges, Silvia has remained optimistic, upbeat, and engaged with her treatment and outlook. Her loving daughters are her motivation and driving force, inspiring Silvia to keep pushing forward in the face of adversity.
