Help Carmen Beat Cancer

Donation protected
This is Carmen.  She's a 10-year old miracle dog who continues to overcome incredible obstacles.

She started her life as a street dog in Playa del Carmen in Mexico. At the age of 2, her front leg was amputated after being hit by a car.  She bounced back.

Shortly after she came into our lives here in Canada. Since then, she's gone on to inspire countless people with her resiliency and easy-going personality.

8-years ago, Carmen began sharing her gift of love and life by helping to socialize countless dogs at her mom's dog daycare, working with 30 dogs every day. Carmen helps young puppies learn how to play, be respectful and socialize in a safe and respectful way. She helps older dogs and their owners learn on-leash greetings, proper manners and acts as a role model to all calm dogs.

She is the heart and soul of the Dog Haus and it's community of 500+ dog owners in Kitchener-Waterloo.

Fast forward to this week.

This week, Carmen was having trouble going to the washroom and was not herself.

An X-Ray revealed a large mass in her abdomen.  After trips to a few different vets, an oncologist at the Mississauga-Oakville Animal Hospital did an Ultrasound discovering that the mass (4cm by 8cm in size) had the characteristics of a cancerous tumour and is pressing on her bladder and colon.  Fortunately, an X Ray indicated that Carmen's lungs appear clear suggesting that the cancer had not spread.

Today, Carmen is in the caring hands Dr. Sarah Boston, a highly esteemed Surgical Oncologist, and the team the 404  Veterinary Hospital for a CT Scan to better visualize the mass, understand its origin and help plan the removal surgery.

The next step is for Carmen's tumour to be removed  from deep in her abdomen, through her pelvis, in a surgical procedure.

We're committed to giving Carmen the best treatment possible because she's the light of so many peoples' lives and continues to help dogs and their owners.

The total expected cost for treatment is estimated at $11,500 and without pet insurance, it's a lot to bear.  It's hard to ask for help but in a time like this it would mean a lot if you could please find it in your heart to help Carmen out.

From the bottom of our hearts, thank you.
