Ella's genetic testing

Ella is our beautiful three year old daughter. Since birth she has had complications related to her health. As a newborn, we had to syringe feed her because her muscles weren't strong enough to nurse or bottle feed. At only three months, during a routine doctor visit, her pediatrician noticed something strange. He noticed she had a seizure. After a referral to a neurologist and subsequent visits, it was confirmed that she suffered from Complex Absence Seizures. She was also diagnosed with Failure to Thrive and Hypotonia, yet doctors did not know the underlying cause of these symptoms.
It was then that Ella was referred to a pediatric geneticist in order to obtain a diagnosis.  After several unsuccessful visits to this specialist, who travels only several months to El Paso a year, we decided to travel to one of the best pediatric hospitals in the country, Texas Children's Hospital.  During our visit, we  felt like we were in good hands and that we were getting closer to a diagnosis, yet we were again presented with another challenge.   The geneticist explained to us that Ella would have to get a genetic test performed, but that the test was not covered by our insurance.  We would have to find a way to fund this very expensive test ourselves.  It is for this reason that we ask you to consider donating towards this cause.
