My name is Joshua Roman. I served in the marines for 5 years and also served in Afghanistan. With my Father’s passing, I’ve encountered the financial hardship of not being able to afford my Father’s funeral expenses.
My Dad was a very energetic, happy and humorous man. He was a man who knew many, and helped all. Whether it was working under the hood of someone’s vehicle or helping them make a repair on their home. He was a man with a big heart.
I supported my Father, and he supported me. When I finished my service with the marines and came home, his health problems began. His health problems reached critical points all this last year. My Father was rushed to several ER and ICU visits. He was constantly being admitted and discharged over and over. I had my Father move in with me. I put my plans for law enforcement and college on hold. My Father’s health was the main priority for me at this point. I had to help him to the restroom, feed him, help with his medications, medical visits, transportation, everything.
Miraculously, these last 2 weeks my Father was gaining his strength back. The medications were actually working and helping his health. He was able to be independent again. He was cooking his own meals, driving a vehicle, and was able to do basic activities like cleaning the house while I was at work. I was excited and happy to see my Dad gaining his strength back. My Father was happy and visiting with a lot of his friends. But on February 8th I had received a phone call from one. It was a phone call that I was shocked to receive. That my Father had passed away.
My Father did not have life insurance; he did not own any property or even a savings account. This is why I’m here today to share my story, and in hope to raise enough to help pay for my Father’s funeral expenses.
