Please support our Dairy Goat Scheme and help us raise the £9,000 we need to be able to help poor households in the Kilimanjaro region meet their basic needs.
About Our Project
We are aiming to raise £9,000 to fund a project to distribute 60 dairy goats to poor households in 6 different villages within the region. The goats will be a source of sustainable income through the sale of offspring and milk, helping local people to meet their basic needs such as food, medicines and schooling fees.
In addition to receiving a dairy goat each households will also receive:
A two day basic training course in areas such as how to diagnose various animal illnesses, the use appropriate veterinary medicines and best breeding practices to ensure the wellbeing of the dairy goat provided Training on animal husbandry, start-up veterinary medicines and fodder seedlings to plant as a future food source for the dairy goats.

Each village will also receive a breeding buck
Under the project each household that receives a goat will pass every other offspring that is born to other poor households in their local communities thus provide a wider community impact.
About Katapult Kilimanjaro
In 2010 three graduates from the University of Sheffield conducted an eight week dissertation placement with KEDA, a small grass roots organisation in the Kilimanjaro Region of Tanzania. KEDA was established in 1992 by three local men who after retiring and returning to the villages in which they were born and raised, decided to use their skills and knowledge to make a positive contribution to their home communities.
Since its foundation, KEDA has run a number of environmental and social projects. This has included educating local farmers about the benefits of organic agriculture; assisting families affected by HIV; and providing livestock to poor households as a source of income generation
Inspired by the hard work and dedication of KEDA the three students set up Katapult Kilimanjaro, a UK based organisation that was founded to support KEDA to accomplish their vision to tackle poverty and environmental degradation in the region.
