Rachel's Fire Recovery Fund

Rachel Casey is a hardworking waitress and bartender working full time at a local restaurant. On top of that she is a part time college student working toward her career as a nurse. She is sweet, kind, and always helping her friends and family. She spends her time off caring for her cousin, Jessica’s children so that Jess can go to work too. They have been helping each other out since they were small and use to live right next door to one another.

Last Friday afternoon, Rachel had just left for work, being picked up by her fellow coworker Adrianna, because her car hasn’t worked in months and needs a major repair she just can’t afford.

After being at work for 10 minutes Rachel received a call from her coworker Katie who told her, as she was panicking, that there was black smoke & flames coming from her apartment, it’s on fire. Rachel borrowed Adrianna’s car and rushed home. I rushed to meet her, then Jesse met us and we watched the fire department work, in the freezing cold, for hours to put the fire out and access the damage.

Rachel has always had a difficult struggle to manage on her own as she has always been more focused on helping out with her two younger brothers.  Somehow she always has a smile on her face, goes to work and school and gets through every day. It has been more difficult since Rachel’s dad, Bobby, passed away suddenly a few years ago.

The goal would be to help Rachel to get back on her feet, fund the 1st, last, security and a few months’ rent for a new apartment, maybe even enough to fix her car or to purchase a car that runs, if additional funds remain they will be used toward her educational expenses.  Thank you to everyone for helping Rachel move into a new apartment, fix or buy a better car and continue her education.
