Shoes with Soul/Rebuild Flipflops

After 10yrs. of business my shop burned down the morning of Monday, January 5, 2015. The fire resulted in total loss of my building including contents over $50,000.00 worth of damage, hair and nail supplies, work stations, products etc. as well as the two buildings adjacent to mine. Almost the entire block we are on is gone.
However, I am not discouraged by these events. No lives were lost and no injuries were had. My spirits remain high and I feel very blessed for the things we do have.
Hello everyone, I'm Tanya Sanchez Scott, owner of Flipflops Salon & Gifts located at 121 S. Broadway, Walters, Oklahoma. I have a very supportive husband Sean Scott, we have 4 children of our own and serve as foster parents to another 4 children.
Flipflops started out as a nail and hair salon. My goal has always been to start selling flip flops and shoes in my shop, Walters is a very small community. Due to this, we have to go to a different town to be able to buy good quality shoes. Last July I was able to begin selling flip flops and purses working towards my goal of purchasing shoes for the shop. My shop has always been my passion, it is where I raised my kids. It is very important to me for our children to understand work ethic, and to pick up the pieces and continue on. I have met some of the most wonderful people in my life at my shop. I live in one of the most supportive, understanding communities there is.
Rebuilding is going to be a long process, we are wanting to buy the 2 other lots next to mine and build a big enough building so that we can provide rental space for potential other businesses. To rebuild it is going to cost over $100,000.00. My business is on main street and I can't wait to be able to fill the empty space that is there and continue to provide service to my community.
