Lynn's Surgery Recovery Fund

Donation protected
Lynn came home from prison last Christmas after 16 years of incarceration. I first met Lynn on prison visits in 2016, as she was co-organizing and facilitating a peer-led domestic violence program for the prison. This is but one example of the ways that Lynn has supported her community first throughout her incarceration, and now in reentry.

In 2010, while in prison, Lynn was diagnosed with severe L5-S1 degenerative disc disease and severe L5-S1 spondylolysis (a stress fracture in the vertebrae).  Lynn ended up getting transported out of the prison to the emergency room on multiple occasions in excruciating pain that radiated from her back down her legs.  Doctors consistently recommended surgery, and the prison consistently ignored the recommendations of these doctors, even though these doctors said that if the surgery was put off for too long, Lynn could face potential paralysis.

In August of this year, while staying in her reentry program, Lynn was finally able to get the much-needed surgery on her back! This is amazing news. The healing process, though, is taking longer than anticipated. Because Lynn was only able to work for a few months in the community before she had to get surgery, she isn't able to get any temporary state disability or paid leave during the extended time that she is taking to heal. As a result, she is without any income for the foreseeable future, and is in need of whatever support can be provided.

Any amount helps toward keeping Lynn afloat through this rough time.  Thank you so very much for reading, and for anything you're able to give.
