Lynda's House Fire Fundraiser

One of our biggest nightmares is losing your home and belongings to a fire and not being able to do anything to save it. Well, unfortunately, this devastation has hit really close to home and happened to my mom, Lynda Sumner. Early Sunday morning on November 16th, 2014 she and her boyfriend awoke to her dog, Sadie, desperately trying to wake them letting them know that something was wrong. Once they woke up, they realized that there was a fire in the ceiling of the dining room and it was spreading very quickly. They both got dressed and grabbed their phones and got out of the house and called 911. In an attempt to save what they could and wait for the fire department, they tried to put the fire out with a water hose and a fire extinguisher. Needless to say, neither was successful. Before they inhaled any more smoke, they got out of the house and hoped that the fire department could save what was left. Once they arrived they weren't able to get their water going at first so unfortunately, they all had to sit there and watch as her home was completely burned. The fire department said that by the time the water was going, there was nothing they could do to salvage anything.
After talking with the insurance company, we realized that she only had a renters policy on the home since the deed was not in her name.  The renters insurance policy only covers $20,000 worth of contents and will not replace the home. We all know that there is no possible way to rebuild a home and furnish it with only $20,000.  We have had so many extremely generous family and friends asking what they can do to help. We have a lot of people giving clothes and small items to get her by for now and we are so grateful for that. For those that want to help in other ways, we thought that this would be the best way for them to donate so that Lynda can start to rebuild her home and get her life back to normal in some way. Please do not feel obligated in any way to donate if you are not able to at this time and please know that ANYTHING is helpful and appreciated. We are not they type of people to ask for charity or handouts, but desperate times call for desperate measures. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts. The Sumner family
