My sister is my best friend in the whole world. I realize that is a cliche thing to say, but it's the honest truth. We've been through a lot together and no matter what, she has always been there for me-even when I've pissed her off, which I'll admit happens pretty frequently. Never the less, I want to do something that shows her how much I love her.
Growing up, Evie never really knew what she wanted to be. She spent most of her adolescence trying to figure out what she wanted to do, like most people. It wasn't until half way through college that she found her passion-art curation and photography. As soon as she discovered this, she dove into it with all her heart and soul, working very hard for any internship that came her way and trying her very best to work towards her goal--being a museum curatory for photography. However, she has hit a major obstacle in achieving this goal.
In order to become a museum curator, she has to have a masters. However, curatorial programs are very scarce and the one program that is specific to photography is overseas. She works five days of the week as a secretary, sometimes more, full-time, trying to raise money so that she can go. However, she has to pay back her undergraduate student loans at the same time. Scholarships have been difficult to obtain as most are reserved for national students and not internationals students. I have watched her work day in and day out, staying up late working on applications, to be able to afford to go abroad, study at her school of choice, and achieve her dream. She keeps hitting road block after road block, and people, even past professors, keep telling her that it is time to give up. As her sister, and someone who loves her, I cannot allow her to give up without first trying all avenues.
The Goal-Friendship Scholarship!
Evie has no idea about this gofundme account. My plan is to raise the money she needs to be able to fund her year abroad--covering her living expenses. She already has some, so I'm asking for the remainder. After I raise as much as I can, I want to surprise her with the check. Please help me help her. Help make a young woman's dream come true and donate as much as you can. For every donation, I will write a personalized thank-you card. The goal is to raise as much as possible by July 1st, 2015. At that point, I will give her whatever has been donated. Please, Please help. Everyone has a right to better themselves, achieve higher education, and have their dreams come true. Thank you.
