Salem Gospel Mission Int’l started as a fellowship by ten (10) men in an apartment in Bronx NY. The fellowship was registered as SALEM GOSPEL MISSION INT’L at Bronx City hall and had it incorporated with the city of New York in 1990. The young fellowship (church) began to grow and flourish and went to rent a place in MOTT HAVEN section of Bronx NY. The high cost of rent in 1996 forced the relocation of the church back to apartment once again. The Lord of host was with His church and the work of God grew. This forced the church to start building fund savings project. The church went to YMCA in Harlem NY for water baptism, approached the YMCA management staff to rent one of the rooms for our Sunday use. The church found favor and that ended the use of apartment to a rented place in YMCA in Harlem NY (180 West 135th Street, New York, NY 10030). The building fund was used to purchase the first ever church building in 2001 at 541 East 18st Street, Bronx NY 10457. The building fund project did not stop even after moving to East 181st Street planning for expansion in the future. The body of Christ was in this building for 13 fruitful and blessed years till we purchased a bigger place of our present worship center (1768 Randall Avenue) in May 10, 2012. It was an abandoned medical facility owned by the City of New York. There was no construction activity until June 2013.
We have spent about $ 120,000.00 on renovating this building to be able to move to the first floor of the building. By the special grace of God, we moved in to the first floor of this building on June 29, 2014 (two years after the initial purchase from the city of NY). Most of this money came from members of the church: some loans and some voluntary donations. The basement is yet to be completed. We need $100,000 to complete the basement that will primarily house the children and youth ministries. These two ministries are the foundation and future of the church.
Our prayer and desire is to complete this construction project before the end of this year 2015. In total $250,000 is what is needed to complete the building and pay off the loans from members and the contractor. Help us make it a reality in two ways:
