The Sweeney's Medical Expenses

We are setting up this page to show support and to help raise funds for Richard & Rebekah Sweeney. Richard has recently been diagnosed with squamous cell carcinoma of the neck. Doctors have determined that he will need radiation therapy administered 5 days per week and chemotherapy 1 day per week for 6 weeks (and possibly more depending on how the cancer responds), and there will be recovery for months thereafter. The nature of the treatment requires that he have special medical equipment including being fitted with a custom molded thermoplastic mask as well as other equipment as necessary. Complicating the situation is that Richard was also diagnosed with congestive heart failure which will add to the challenges of recovery.
Richard’s wife Rebekah is facing her own physical challenges including a paralyzed leg which hinders her ability to drive as well as her own treatment and therapy needs.
Your donation will help relieve some of the financial burden of long term medical care for Richard, therapy for Rebekah and overall living expenses for this great couple. Richard is a loving husband, great friend, highly esteemed co-worker, an incredibly gifted musician, and much, much more to all who care about him. Rebekah is a devoted wife, a positive spirit, lover of animals and people, with a heart of gold. Both are so deserving of our help.
To put it in real numbers, Richard’s medical insurance deductible is $6,000, Rebekah’s is $8,000, and both have suffered a loss of income due to the circumstances. Equipping their car with hand controls so Rebekah can drive them to and from treatments will require at least $1,500. In the meantime, they will need funds for transportation (taxi, Uber, Lyft, etc.). Other needs will be food expenses, utilities, bills and general day to day home maintenance.
