Lungs 4 Larry

Dear Friends of Larry Logsdon and Family,

We are inviting you to participate in our campaign to help our father, Larry Logsdon. In addition to this online fundraiser we have organized a Benefit Dinner and Auction themed “Lungs 4 Larry” on Saturday, March 28th at Wilkey Elementary School in Leitchfield, Kentucky.  Any friends, family or supporters are welcome to attend this event.

Our dad Larry Logsdon, recently discovered he has Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis (IPF). IPF is a progressive and generally fatal disease characterized by scarring of the lungs that thickens the lining of the lungs, causing an irreversible loss of the tissue’s ability to transport oxygen. IPF has robbed our dad the ability to breathe.  IPF affects over 128,000 people in the United States, with about 48,000 new cases diagnosed annually. There is no known cause and no cure for IPF.  Life expectancy after being diagnosed is between 2-4 years.  Only a Lung Transplant can extend this time for him.  Our dad was placed on the Kentucky Transplant list for a Double Lung Transplant recently and is awaiting approval to be added to Tennessee’s list. 

Please consider supporting our dad and family during this difficult and stressful time.  We are not ready to let our dad leave this world at age 59 and he is not ready to give up!  He is married to Cheryl Logsdon and they have 4 children (Shaun, Craig, Bryan and Elissa) and 12 Amazing Grandchildren.
 
It is has been a long journey for our dad that included testing and rehab visits back and forth to Louisville 2-3 times a week over the past 12 months just to be added to and remain on the transplant list at the University of Kentucky Transplant Center.  However the journey is just beggining for our dad and family financially.  We were told that the first year post transplant is estimated to cost $70,000 alone. Please consider making a donation and keeping our family in your prayers during this difficult time.

Any and all donations will be used specifically to benefit our dad and mom financially for out of pocket medical and travel expenses relating to his need for lungs.  So we urge you to help us in our campaign, "Lungs 4 Larry".
