LUNATECS Launch to World Stage After Record-Breaking Season

In the midst of their most successful season ever, the LUNATECS have punched their ticket to the FIRST World Championship in Houston following an extraordinary year of competitive achievement and community impact.

During the offseason, LUNATECS students dedicate themselves to expanding access to STEM education by providing hands-on learning opportunities for middle and high school students through near-peer mentoring. These efforts include leading drone certification programs through GEAR Up and local school partnerships. Team members also participate in rigorous training programs that not only prepare them for competition but also allow them to earn college credits through a partnership with Salem Community College—demonstrating the depth and real-world value of the program.

That preparation has translated into an exceptional 2026 FIRST Robotics Competition season. The LUNATECS won all of their qualifying events and, on April 18, were crowned FIRST Mid-Atlantic District Champions as the first alliance captain, finishing district play with an outstanding 46-4 record. The team will also represent the Mid-Atlantic District as FIRST Impact Award winners at the Championship for the fourth consecutive year, an honor that recognizes sustained excellence in community outreach and impact.

To support their journey to the world stage, the LUNATECS are raising $20,000 to offset travel and competition expenses for our team of 30 students and mentors. Community support is critical in helping these dedicated students compete at the highest level while continuing to inspire and lead through STEM initiatives.
