My name is Jose and I'm doing this on behalf of my mom who very recently had to make the difficult decision to put our lovely German Shepherd Luna down. Luna was a very intelligent and loving companion to my mom who lives alone in Florida with her other dog, Pepe.

Luna hadn't been feeling too well for about a week. After a vet check, her blood work came back normal, and she seemed to be doing okay for a bit. Last Saturday, Luna wasn't able to move much in the morning, and she was not having her usual appetite. By nighttime, she was laying on the floor unable to move, and her breathing seemed off. I immediately made some calls (from Vermont) to a local emergency vet and gave them a heads-up that my mom would be bringing her in.

After some extensive and expensive tests, they found out Luna had a tumor in her heart plus liquid around it and several tumors around her spleen. While I wasn't there, from what I gathered, I believe she had hemangiosarcoma, which is a cancer our previous dog Loki passed away from 2 years ago.

My mom had to do what was right for Luna as she was in a lot of pain, and any treatment would have led to her having a heart attack or serious complications from the metastatic cancer.

This has been a very painful experience for all of us all as Luna was in my life for a while before I moved away.

My mom is in a very tough financial situation, and I'm unable to help her with the vet bills, so any help would be appreciated.
