Lunar Gala is an annual student fashion show run by a board of 50 students who focus on PR, Entertainment, Production, Creative, Design, and Modeling. Since we are a student club with no outside financing, we always run into the problem of financially supporting the event.
Last year, the show cost around $30,000 and that cost doesn't even cover what designers pay out-of-pocket. Each design team pays from around $300 to $800 to cover their own lines. We try to cover these costs through applying for funding from our school, increasing ticket prices, and cutting back on tech effects during the show. None of the students, from the dancers to the producers, involved in the show receive any type of payment for the show and we all dedicate our time and effort towards making the show a success.
For an ideal show, we would want to cover the student designer's costs, cover multiple tech effects during the show, and keep ticket prices as low possible. Not to mention cover the usual cost to rent space and various equipment, including the stage, screens, and surround speakers.
Your support goes towards all aspects of the show, and just to show our appreciation we are offering swag depending on the amount of your donation.
Additionally, to show our thanks for giving we want to give out swag bags to people who help us out. If you live close to Pittsburgh we'll set a day to pick up your package, if not we'll mail it to you! All packages will be given out mid or late December.
Even if you cannot give during our crowdfunding event, we would love to see you at the show in February. Thank you!
