Josh and Jessica finally have an official adoption date of April 6th!!!! This means Jessica, Josh, all the kids and Jessica’s parents will be flying out to Nevada for the court date. We all know how much flights cost, and since this is supposed to be an exciting, not stressful, time for the family, we don’t want the excited parents worrying about how they are going to pay for nine plane tickets.
Josh and Jessica are some of the most generous people I know and have never once asked for anything in this process. As friends and family, let’s show them that we’ve got their backs!
Any amount you feel led to give will help tremendously. If you are not able to help financially, they could definitely use your prayers as they take five kids across the country.
If you have never had the pleasure of hearing their story, it’s one of obedience to God and the miracles that come when we step out in faith. I have tried the best I can to capture their faith-filled story below...
In early 2016, after many failed attempts to start a family of their own, Jessica told Josh she was ready to look into adoption. It wasn’t even a month later that they received a letter in the mail from the state of Nevada asking if anyone was willing to take 4 siblings (Estrella, Sofia, Luis and Andrea) in to adopt. After a lot of prayer and guidance they knew this was a God thing. So in July 2016, on Josh and Jessica’s 4th wedding anniversary, they flew out to Nevada to meet the kids, with no other plan than to see if this would be a good fit for everyone. They fell immediately in love.
After returning from their trip they started the necessary paperwork to get the kids to the state of Georgia. Adoption is not a quick or easy process, but after a lot of paperwork and preparation for home studies, they were qualified to be foster parents (which is required for a minimum of six months before you adopt through DFCS). On December 17th, 2016 they flew back out to Nevada to bring all the kids home.
Just a few short months later, in March 2017, Jessica became pregnant, much to the couple’s surprise! Their unexpected blessing would be due in November. The kids were ecstatic to find out they would be getting yet another baby sister. While preparing for the arrival of the new baby, they didn’t slow down getting things in order to be able to officially adopt Estrella, Sofia, Luis and Andrea. In July they began getting the paperwork ready to finalize the adoption… and here we are today.
Estrella, Sofia, Luis, and Andrea not only stolen the hearts of Josh and Jessica but the hearts of all who have had the joy of meeting them. Since the beginning, the end goal was to adopt all four kids. It’s been a process of waiting and trusting God, but the time has finally come!
Anything you can give to help finalize this miracle for the Lummus family would be greatly appreciated. Thank you for your generosity!
***The kids do have an additional sister that was born in January of 2017 that Josh and Jessica are also in the process of adopting, however they have to start the process over from the beginning for her.
