Luke Shimer Recovery

Donation protected
My husband Luke Shimer (29 years old) was struck by lightning on the deck of our house in St Augustine, Florida on Tuesday (May 17th) around 6.15pm. His heart stopped and my father in law and my 10 year old brother found him unresponsive a couple of minutes after it happened. They called 911 and the operator talked him through chest compression CPR for 10 minutes until the first responders arrived.

He was rushed to Flager Hospital in St Augustine where he remains in ICU in critical condition. We are surrounded by family members and friends and coworkers and all prayers are very much appreciated.

Luke served in the Army for 6 years and was deployed twice, 9 months in Afghanistan and 4 months in Kuwait. He now is in the National Guard and is also a Special Ed St Johns County School teacher.

We know that there will be tough times ahead and it is quite likely there will be a tremendous financial burden in front of us. In addition to your thoughts and prayers I would like to respectfully ask for some monetary support to help us through this. I will update this page as often as I can as we have been here in the hospital since Tuesday 17th and we are not leaving until Luke is!
