Our Dad needs your help to pay for his stage 4 cancer treatment.
On behalf of our father, Luke Folkema, us kids are trying to raise money for our Dad. He needs to pay off his medical loans and pay for continuing treatments for cancer. Our mother lost her 9 year battle with lymphoma in 2017. In 2014 shortly after his retirement, that Mom and him were so looking forward to, he was diagnosed with aggressive prostate cancer. After Mom's passing, Dad's cancer had progressed at an alarming rate. It became apparent he needed alternate treatment in mid 2018, because the conventional methods provided were no longer effective. Dad, being a father of six kids and 12 grandchildren, knew he had to get well, not just for himself, but for all of us who had already suffered the painful loss of our Mom.
In November of 2018, Dad made the bold decision to arranged a bank loan to cover the initial cost and left for Tijuana Mexico. He went for treatment at CHIPSA Hospital which specializes in Advanced Cancer Immunotherapy. This treatment is not available in Canada or the United States. The CHIPSA therapy requires follow up treatments in Mexico for subsequent treatment and evaluation.
