On January 11th, 2020, after a brave battle with Osteosarcoma, Luke passed away. He was surrounded by his parents, sister and more family. Any remaining funds and any donated will go towards funeral/memorial arrangements and towards Luke's Dad taking time off for care over the last 2 months. We are so grateful for the months of generous support. We are humbled by the love poured out to our family.

This is our friend, Luke Sybert. Luke just turned 14 years old and he is battling cancer for the 2nd time.
In 2014 Luke was first diagnosed with Osteosarcoma at 9 years old. He had a long and difficult battle - but he won! Luke has spent the years since his cancer in constant screenings because he is at high risk of reoccurance.
Recently, doctors found a lump in his leg which, unfortunately is cancer back for another round. In addition to the tumor found in his leg there is also a 3 cm tumor in his lung.
Luke's treatment will include chemotherapy, surgery on his lung, as well as the amputation of the leg with the tumor shortly after his eighth grade graduation.
Luke's family works very hard but there are so many costs involved in battling cancer. Fees raised through Go Fund Me will help with everything from medical fees to supplementing income for dad to take time off work.
Luke comes from a long line of runners and is an award winning runner himself. While we believe that insurance will cover some or perhaps all of the cost of a prosthetic leg, it will not cover the cost of a runner's blade.
Our hope is to help the Sybert family with the financial strain while they focus on helping Luke heal. We also hope that Luke will see this fundraiser and know that money is available to help him run again as soon as he is able. Thank you for considering donating to Luke's family!
