Help a hero mother and her family.

Thursday night, February 5, 2015, a very tragic accident ooccurred in our family. Our family pet, Warden, an American Staffordshire Terrier, turned on us. He was a dog that was family raised, gentle with other dogs, and was known by members of our family since he was a puppy. Simply put, he was a joy to be around. Our family adopted Warden 3 months ago because of a change in the living situation of his former owner.  Madison, our youngest, bonded with him and was Warden's best friend as he was also hers. When Madison called Warden into her room to play, out of nowhere he turned on her and began nipping at her arms. Alexandra, her older sister, heard Madison scream, "He's biting me!" and before Alex could open the door, Richmond, their mother, had pushed Alex out of the way. What she found behind the door was any mother's nightmare. Warden was latched on to Madison's ankle as she was bleeding profusly. The instinct of a loving mother who will do anything to protect her child compelled her to jump on Madison to shield her from further harm. It was at that time Warden began directing his viscious attack toward Richmond. To protect her children, she told Maddie and Alex to run to the neighbors and call for help. While doing this, Alex possibly re-injured the ACL she recently had surgery on in December. When the police arrived, Warden was still attacking Richmond's body with no signs of stopping until she was dead. The policeman shot him 3 times in the torso and once in the head to kill him. All 3 of them were taken to the hospital that night.

The trauma that Richmond sustained is horrendous and almost ended her life. A finger on her left hand is shredded to the bone, her arms have rips and puncture wounds all over them, her legs are torn, and worst of all she has three palm sized holes ripped from her leg exposing the bone.  She is now facing multiple surgeries, rehabilitation to learn to walk again, and plastic surgery to repair her legs.  We're asking for your help to be a hero's hero. Because of Richmond's heroic acts we are dealing with surgeries and rehab instead of planning a funeral for Madison who also required surgery to repair the damage that was done.  Richmond's own words are "I did what any mother would do." More than that, she has the heart of a lion and the bravery of a true hero. We look at this horrendous accident, and are resolute in praising God's name for His steadfast love and faithfulness in the midst of our suffering.

Please consider a donation of any size to help fund the tremendous amount of medical bills our family will face. Thank you for reading and sharing our story with others!
