Costa Rica Environmental Trip
Donation protected
I am fundraising to travel to Costa Rica this summer with my school to partake in environmental work and study big cats, primates and turtle conservation. The trip includes:
• Primate observation-based studies
• Turtle monitoring
• Tracking big cats
• Understanding the social and ecological constructs of predator conservation
• Otter studies on the rivers
• Bird surveys
• BTEC research projects
• Reforestation program
• Trail creation and maintenance
• Community involvement activities e.g. education
This is an amazing opportunity and going on this trip is extremely meaningful to me. Much of my time is spent in a lab or workshop: it is important to me to balance my areas of exploration and to give back by volunteering my time. Environmental conservation is a topic about which I am very passionate. To be able to fully understand the impact of industry and advanced technoIogy on the environment, I believe that it is essential to participate in ecology work first-hand. A fellow student and I created a video to illustrate animal poaching and endangerment in Costa Rica:
(UPDATE: This video won our video competition!)
We can make a difference together. In addition to helping send me on this research trip, there are other ways you can help in caring for the planet. Here are some links to check out:

I promise lots of pictures and videos, along with my journal notes from the trip :)
Thanks!
