<div>This is Lucy. I adopted her as a 1-year-old pup, and she has been one of my very best friends for the last almost 9 years. She is loved and adored by every person who has met her; it's impossible not to fall in love the second you meet her. She has been a loving and loyal companion since day one and has been there through the best and worst times in my life. She is the best big sister to her animal siblings and will be the best nanny to our future children.

<div>And that is why we are here asking for help, because we want to see her around for as long as possible. For the duration of her life, she has struggled with chronic ear infections that have led her right ear to become calcified shut. Her body is trying so hard to fight the infection that it has shut her ear off, trapping the infection inside her ear canal, and it has grown to the size of a golf ball. We cannot stand to see her in pain any longer; she suffers daily from this, and the smell is unbearable. She has been on regular daily pain meds, which have helped her be comfortable to a certain extent, but we can't wait any longer to get this done, given the risk of the infection spreading further into her skull and shortening her life.

<div>She has seen countless vets and specialists, and they have all come to the conclusion that she needs a complete ear ablation, essentially removing her entire ear canal and closing it off for good. According to the specialists, this will prolong her life and drastically improve the quality of her life and her comfort as she ages. We would have gotten this done a year ago, but it's been difficult making a decision when the price tag varies typically from 7k-10k; we have not been able to afford it. I have put this off for a long time because I absolutely hate asking for monetary help, but I am realizing that we will not be able to afford this surgery without the help of our friends, family, and community. Luckily, we have found an awesome vet that we like who can do the surgery for less, so it's time to swallow my pride and ask for y'all's help so we can get our pup the help she needs.
