Lucy doodle dog's recovery

Donation protected
This past month on the 16th of June, my Lucy Dog was attacked by another dog and lost her leg. The cost of the surgery alone was $3200, but my family also paid an extra $900 in emergency care bills. (I was away taking care of my sick mother at the time and my husband took Lucy to a 24 hour care place in Mishawaka. They took hours to see her and did not treat Lucy’s leg with the care she needed.) Lucy is my best friend and a beautiful King Charles Cavalier Cocker Spaniel. I am shocked and devastated at what has happened to her and will do everything in my power to protect and care for her during her recovery process. The worst part of all of this is the fact that I wasn’t even home when my husband and dog were attacked. My husband was bitten several times as well, and I was not able to get back home until the day after Lucy’s surgery on 6/19/2019. I was in Knoxville TN staying with my mother, who recently suffered a ruptured aneurism and a stroke. This has been the hardest time of my life and now I have to just ask for a little help until I get back on my feet and back to work. I am a caregiver of 20+ so I will have no issue going back to work, but for now I must stay at home an care for Lucy. This gofundme is of course to help with her recovery an to help pay bills while I am unable to work for a few weeks. My family is hurting both financially and emotionally. If anyone is able and willing to help us it will be very appreciated! It is not easy to ask for help, but I have found that in times of need it seems that people I don't know or have never met can provide more help than I ever imagined. It makes me so glad there is so much good left in the world. Thank each and every one of you who even took a moment to read my story. Please say a prayer for Lucy and my family. God bless you. Thank you so much from my little Lucy doodle dog and her family, So Grateful, Jessie & Gila Wigton (You are welcome to fact-check any of my information by contacting the VCA Southwest Michigan Animal Emergency and Referral Center at [phone redacted]. The doctor who performed the surgery was Dr. Steven Baker, and he did a wonderful job. I would recommend him to anyone with a hurt furbaby. )
