Horses & Hope - Help Lucky Harvest!

Donation protected
Lucky Harvest Project, founded in 1992,  was  the the first equine therapy centre established  in Quebec  !

The Lucky Harvest Project (LHP) is a  CanTRA (Canadian Therapeutic Riding Association) accredited equine-therapy riding centre. Riding sessions are conducted by certified instructors providing therapy, rehabilitation and recreational enjoyment to children, youths, and adults with intellectual, physical, emotional, mental and/or developmental disabilities. Although there are no restrictions as to age, the majority of the clientele are children.  LHP is a non-profit organization and is managed ENTIRELY by volunteers.

Therapeutic riding is a growing, widely-accepted treatment for a broad range disorders such as cerebral palsy, post-traumatic brain injury, autism, ADHD, Down’s and Rett’s syndromes as well as many other disorders. Tremendous improvements in both the cognitive and the physical abilities of riders participating in the program have been documented. The experience for someone who has limited skills and abilities - some even confined to a wheelchair - of being able to ride a horse, has tremendous emotional and social benefits.

Horses give hope for so many that come to LHP for their unparalleled therapy. The primary goal as a therapeutic riding center is to provide a positive, safe and supportive environment for each rider, in which focus is placed on what the rider can accomplish, and not on their limitations.  Parental and family involvement is encouraged and families often come just to enjoy the setting ...there are also occasional opportunities for siblings to ride together as well !  Balance, core body strength, co-ordination, dexterity, socialization, and psychological well-being are just some of the areas that have been proven to benefit from equine-assisted therapy. Clients are often are referred to LHP by doctors, physiotherapists, occupational therapists and other medical professionals, from across Quebec but mostly from Montreal and surrounding areas.

To continue this life-changing therapy, LHP needs your support.  The cost to feed the horses and maintain the facility have been increasing every year. Hay, food and supplements alone cost several hundred dollars a month and there are ever-increasing costs for veterinary care, facility maintenance, insurance and such. Yet LHP has kept their fees to a bare minimum so that as many can benefit as possible. The video here on Go Fund Me shows just a few of the people who praise LHP for the benefits their loved ones have received through equine-therapy.

The stable and indoor arena are located in a quiet, wooded corner at Herdman, Quebec, in the rural municipality of Hinchinbrooke, with an outdoor riding ring as well and access to a wooded trail. See more at https://luckyharvestproject.wordpress.com

Help LHP continue it's important work....life just looks and feels different atop a horse !
