Lucho's Habitat Build in Thailand

Donation protected
We’re raising money to send Pedro “Lucho” Hernandez, our amazing Habitat Field Coordinator from Guatemala, to Nepal so he may participate on a build.

I first met Lucho in February on out Habitat for Humanity Global Village build in Rabinal, Guatemala where he served as our Habitat Field Coordinator. For a team leader, the Field Coordinator is our everything. From coordinating meals, transportation, construction, and cultural activities to translating languages, and handling all manner of volunteer needs (broken tools, medicine, grocery store trips, dietary needs, etc) they leave their friends and family behind to be on call 24 hours a day, 9 days in a row. Lucho not only fulfilled all these responsibilities dutifully, but his enthusiasm and energy keep the team lively and engaged the entire trip. He really went above and beyond for our team, and many others, and now I’d like to do the same for him.

As a token of our appreciation, to show we value Lucho, and other unsung heroes we’re raising money to send him on a Habitat build in Kavre, Nepal. While there he’ll accompany Chris Sebilia and 19 other volunteers aiding in the reconstruction of this small mountain town. Devastated during the earthquake, Kavre’s restoration has since been crippled by aftershocks and the ongoing fuel crises. Now Lucho and our team are poised to make a real difference.

We’re asking for $4140 which will cover the $1800 Habitat donation, $2300 flights from Guatemala, and $40 Visa for Nepal. Once on the ground his food, transportation, and housing will all be included in the Habitat donation. Anything you can do to help us realize this goal, from $5 on up is incredibly appreciated. Much like building a house, we’re trying to reach our goal one brick at a time. With your kindness we hoping to honor this incredible person.

On a personal note I was inspired to start this campaign with Lucho, because his passion and dedication not only made leading with him a breeze, but it inspired me to renew my commitment to doing good work. The breadth of experience and passion he brings to every project is incredibly motivating. I would cherish the opportunity to have him on my team. I sincerely hope we will make this goal, and afford Lucho this once in a lifetime experience.
