<div>To start, people like to say that trans people know who they are from a young age, but I was 13 when I discovered that everything I was feeling was because I was transgender. I never knew what being trans was or that the huge red flags I was throwing out were because I was not comfortable with my body and birth gender.

<div>In primary school I always played with the boys, I felt comfortable in boys' clothes and naturally had a very boyish childhood! It was only in secondary school that I started to feel more different.

<div>In year 8 I started to feel very insecure in my growing body and the only thing I did know was that I did not want to look like the girls. This made me very confused and conflicted and I was bullied throughout school for being different. I put myself down a lot because i was not "normal" and To put it simply I was not happy with how I looked. so in year 9, I mustered up the courage to cut my hair. This was a huge stepping stone that I had now crossed, I felt way more comfortable with my style and face and my parents said that visibly I was a different and happier person. I then started to become more confident in myself and made loads of new friends. One friend, in particular, educated me on what being transgender meant  and helped me discover who I am.

<div>During the last few months, I have continued to grow as a trans person and have crossed some important stepping stones in my journey. I came out in April 2023 to my family and friends and we have started to discuss how to further help with my dysphoria and day-to-day life. I have been on the WGS waiting list for over a year now and have decided to go privately with my top surgery. Sadly gender-affirming surgeries cost a lot of money and this is something I or my family can't afford alone. I am asking for help in raising money, it would mean a lot if you could give anything, however, please know that even a share would be greatly appreciated.
