Emma Jones Dominican Mission Trip

My name is Emma Jones. My parents are Tim Jones and Jill Jones. You might know them, you might know me or you not know any of us. I am going to do my best to tell you about my plans to go on a mission trip to the Dominican Republic in the summer of 2015, explain a little bit about what makes me tick and to ask for your support as I will need to raise nearly $2600.00 by June 1st, 2015.
The D.R.: 5 out of the last 6 years my Mother (Jill Jones) has traveled with a group called Vision Trust to the interior of the Dominican Republic. There in a the village Cotui, Vision Trust has helped to transform a third world poverty stricken community into the beginnings of a proud village through the building of a school, the construction and upkeep of a shelter, the funding of visits from medical and dental teams AND the firm planting of faith in Christ in this village. There is so much more to do. This year the goal is to build a few more classrooms, supply as much medical and dental aid as possible and to continue teaching the good news that Christ is alive through vacation bible schools and daily worship events. I have seen the pictures of the swimming holes where the kids play and the livestock go to the bathroom. I have seen the videos of the dirt floor shacks and the tears on the boy’s face when he got a new pair of underwear given to him by a missionary (think of your kid getting an ipod). There are photo books full of pictures of garbage, kids with medical problems and a village where the men are gone. I have also seen photo books full of pictures with smiling children so appreciative of what their “madrina’s and madrino’s” (Godmothers and Godfathers) do for them. Some of the mothers call the missionaries “angels of God”. I want to go because I think those kids need to be loved.
Me: I am 13, turning 14 in April of this year. I am currently in 8th grade and looking forward to being a freshman at Centennial High School in Franklin, TN in the fall. I am a self-proclaimed goody goody. I guess that means I love Christ and spend most of my days in Middle School trying to avoid fitting in with the crowd. It is not easy being a believer in Middle School. All the kids are changing and trying to grow up so quickly. I have a younger sister (Gracie) and a younger brother (Sully). I love them both very much. Gracie is a sweetie pie who spends most of her free time drawing or reading, and Sully keeps us laughing. He is unique for sure. I hope to one day attend Liberty University and possibly pursue Math or Science. I am looking forward to turning 14 so that I can get a job and start saving for mission’s and for college.
How you can help: My Dad tells me to just tell it like it is. I need to raise $2600 to fund the Mission. You can help by donating to my GOFUNDME account gofundme.com/ltuua8 . $1-$1000, it all helps. I can promise you that your donations will be poured out on the kids of Cotui in the form of love. My Mom tells me that people deserve the chance to participate in these missions because most people would have such a difficult time finding the time because of work, kids and other things.
Thank you so much for reading!
Blessings,
Emma Jones
