Thank you for taking the time to look at our GoFundMe fundraising efforts.

Hopi Dog Rescue is the brainchild of Alexandra Posnock who visited the Hopi Indian Tribe during the summer of 2012.  Alexandra had always loved dogs.  During that visit. she was very concerned about the great number of hungry, injured and even starving dogs roaming around on the Reservation.

Buying a bag of dog biscuits to distribute was simply not enough.  This 6 year old wanted to do more.  "I want to be an animal rescuer and don't want to wait until I am grown up." says Alexandra

Alexandra and her parents brainstormed about how we could help in a bigger way and creating Hopi Dog Rescue was the outcome.

Our first rescue:  That day on the Third Mesa we found a starving 6 week puppy who came home with us to Illinois and Alexandra named him Hopi.  Today Hopi is thriving with his two rescue dog sisters and is a wonderful loving dog.

The Hopi Tribe is located on 4000 acres in northeastern Arizona. It is bordered on all four sides by the Navajo Tribe Reservation where it is estimated that there are over 160,000 stray cats and dogs. According to Hopi beliefs, fences are not allowed on the reservation which makes it difficult to control domestic as well as feral animal populations.

While some effort has been exerted to control animal over-population both individually and tribally, The Hopi Tribe needs help.

Specifically in conjunction with the Hopi Tribe, The Hopi Dog Rescue helps with rescuing dogs who need urgent medical help, finding homes for the reservation dogs "Rez Dogs",  and future help with establishing a formal spay and neuter program on the Reservation. This vision is our mission.

100% of the donations go directly to veterinary fees incurred post-rescue or spaying/neutering for population control on the reservation.  "This is a powerful organization," says Alexandra.

We currently do not have our own shelter but work with the Coconino Humane Society and Paw Placement of Northern Arizona to care for and place rescued dogs

We have big ideas and understand the global problem of animal control on the Hopi land.  However, our motto is to "Save One Dog at a Time."  We are starting small with the dream of finishing big with your help.

We have already successfully rescued four beautiful dogs and are ready to help more.

Please make a donation to our Go Fund Me site and help us get more dogs spayed on the reservation and pay for the vet bills for those dogs we rescue and find loving forever homes for.
